Mouse

Mouse or the other name is mice. An object as a pointing and drawing device. The mouse usually has a ball and buttons and is connected to the system unit through serial port. A mouse can have one, two or more buttons, which are used to select command option and to control the mouse pointer on the monitor. As a mouse is rolled across the flat desktop in any direction, it located the pointer correspondingly on the screen. Then it issues commands using the selection buttons on the mouse. The mouse pointer usually appear in the shape of an arrow. Some mice have a wheel button that can be rotated to scroll through information that is displayed on the monitor. Many portable microcomputer such as laptops use trackballs instead of mice.

There are three basic designs of a mouse :

-has a ball on the bottom and is attached with a cord to the

-is a battery-powered device that typically uses radio waves or infrared light waves to communicate with the system unit-

What Is Input Device.

An input device is used to provide data and control signals to an information processing system (such as a computer). Input and output device make up the hardware interface between a computer as a scanner. Input device are also a hardware used to translate words, sounds, image, and actions that people understand into a form that the system unit can be process. For example, when using a word processor, you typically use a keyboard to enter text and a mouse to issue commands. In addition to keyboard and mice, there are a wide variety of other input device. These include pointing, scanning, image capturing, and audio- input device.

Direct Entry / Keyboard

DIRECT ENTRY

Direct entry is a data entry form that does not use keyboard to input a data. Today, more data and instruction are entered a CPU of microcomputer directly using direct entry devices or direct input devices use to provide a more natural interface. This entry devices reduce users' typing errors. While direct entry is an advance fourth generation data entry form, voice input (speech input) is the mode of next generation input technology.

KEYBOARD

Keyboard is an input device, partially modeled after the typewriter keyboard, which use an arrangement of buttons or keys, to act as mechanical level or electronic switches. A keyboard typically has characters engraved or printed on the keys and each press of a key typically corresponds to a single written symbol. However, to produce some symbols requires pressing and holding several keys simultaneously or in sequence. While most keyboard keys produce letters, numbers or signs (characters), other keys or simultaneous key presses can produce actions or computer commands.

-miniature keyboard for PDAs and smart phone to send e-mail, create documents, and more-

What is input ?

Input is any data or instruction that are used by a computer. Input is the term denoting either entrance or changes which are inserted into a system and which activate and modify a process. It is an abstract concept, used in the modeling system design and system exploitation. It is usually connected with other terms.

Definition of Microcomputer.

A microcomputer is a computer with a microprocessor as its central processing unit. Another general characteristic of these computer is that they occupy physically small amount of space when compared to main frame and minicomputer. Many microcomputer (when equipped with a keyboard and screen for input and output) are also personal computers (in the generic sense).
